Mrs. IM says that if the shop gives it’s blessing, then project X1/9 is go.
My wife is going to look cute as hell in that car if this works out.

Only an idiot wouldn’t buy an X1/9. Probably.

Best of luck, really hope the shop results are good.
The X1/9 want is really strong now and I found this one for sale:
It’s local to me for $2500.

That is the perfect sports car but don’t take my word on it

Love x1/9s. First step: remove that rear bumper and maybe luggage rack... but you might need that.

Now that we’re jumping into wedges, who’s going to take the next big leap?
A friend of mine had one exactly like this. I loved cruising in that car!

May I commend you and your esteemed spouse on your excellent choice of motorised conveyance, sir.

The late, g r e a t Tony Pond on his way to victory in the 1980 24 Heures d’Ypres rally.
I have a soft spot for the TR7... even if Giugiaro, upon seeing the swage line on the driver’s side of the car, went to check out the passenger’s side and cried
oh, no, they’ve done it to the other side as well!
(Allegedly.

It’s period-correct enough that it’d be ok at Radwood, provided it actually makes it all the way up there in time. Mega IF right there too hahah

That car has zero grip at the rear. Only Pond (and Per Eklund, if memory serves) managed to wring good results out of it.
It is one of those cases where you don’t just admire what they managed to do but how they did it.
Besides, there are lots of wonderful anecdotes with it. Such as Pond crashing into a
lions’ enclosure in the Longleat stage of the RAC. Or taking a local constable as a passenger when doing some high-speed practice for the same rally - unfortunately the car rolled over in a particularly muddy area and the cop had to trek back to the police station fully covered in dirt.

Great stories! My buddy had one of the few with a V8. He short-shifted it all the time and wouldn’t really punch it unless we were rolling at freeway speeds. He said it broke loose too easily. At the time I thought he was just bragging. Now I have reason to think otherwise.

Oh it wouldn’t at least not without a few “breaks”.

For your consideration:

Somewhere in a Car magazine the inimitable LJKS briefly described three or four tweaks that turn the X1/9 into the absolutely perfect driving machine. Unfortunately I have been able to find them - maybe someone around here knows?

I KNOW it’ll break down many times on the way... Big question is, could I fix it fast enough to keep going and make it to Radwood on time. Would make a great YouTube vlog.
